Drunken lovers, your clacking heels competing with your laughter. I want to wipe your hair from your brow and feel a single tear graze my pinky. I want to kiss you madly and gently bite your lips. I want to watch you wearing matching sun hats with our daughter as I gaze out into our garden. I want to drink booze and make love to you in a sketchy motel and pretend Im not afraid. I want you to defend me, be loyal to me, and be proud of me like my father never was.

No I don’t. I don’t want what’s coming. I know you will someday feel differently. I know you will hurt me and ruin my life. You will wait to you know you have me. You will serve me everlasting pain. You will haunt me in my dreams and make me nauseus in the morning. You will teach me how cruel this world can be. How scarred and alone I truly am. I will realize that there is only me. There will be others but it will never be the same. That piece of me will be gone. You will have it now. You always will. You will take it with you someday when you die. You will feel it sometimes at night while you’re in bed and wonder if you made a mistake. You will try to convince yourself that you didn’t. But it will always be there, and I will always be searching for ways to get it back.

In this moment the decision is mine. I will spare us, you and me. I will capture this moment and hang it it my home. I will think of the Indians and their fear of the camera. They said a photo steals your soul. I will look at you everyday and see our life the way I want it. AI was back in Tennessee this week at a crazy compound for fermentors. I'm sort of ignorant about fermentation and what goes on, but I saw a lot of photo's of things I would never eat. I am, however, very much inspired by her, her self-reliance and path, and am quite smitten by her presence in my life. One day she called and said that they were going to teach the class how to slaughter and prepare a chicken, but that she opted out. It made me think of Mr. Mastastico's chix and how Bliggie hypnotized one while we were putting an extension on the Mastic compound. To all of my animal loving friends, no chickees were harmed during this trick. What you see below is after the spell was cast.... the aftermath if you will.

Dick Proenneke was a bad ass mother F*ker. All the hipster vintage hunting jackets and boots in the world cant even come close to the real thing. Richard Louis "Dick" Proenneke (May 4, 1916–April 28, 2003) was an amateur naturalist who lived alone in the high mountains of Alaska at a place called Twin Lakes. He lived in a log cabin he constructed by hand (and "by hand" we mean using only hand made tools in the middle of nowhere),where he even filmed himself on a Bolex camera performing his activities. Talk about "survivorman" or "man vs. wild". I recently watched this entire film, and am now reading his book "One man's wilderness". Dick moved to the wilderness when he was 50, and remained there for most of the next 30 years.... alone.

Had my first ever house guest (male) in the new cave. Uncle Bizzeeee from Sweeeeeeden came to embrace N'East sandbar explorations. Checked out Strawberry Fields, DJ'd a cookoo-clock LES party (worst hangover ever!), caught some swell and celebrated our friend Cyndy's birthday. Got a very sacred and special snail mail delivery while Mr. Beezer was here and took this badboy to the West end to see what she was made of... Big Thanks to Eef and his crafted piece of rideable art! The Prone Evil paipo made it's debut at the Rock to knee high peelers and tons of sanded face plants on an unusually warm NY day!

Watched Rob Stewart's amazing film Sharkwater

tonight and was blown away to say the least. Not only is it beautifully shot and informative on the complete devastation of all shark species and its impact on the food chain and the air we breath, but features the sickest pirate warfare conducted by the activist boat Sea Shepherd. If you don't know about the boat and its captain, def google it. These guys ram and sink poacher boats in open water, and run from machine gun carrying "coast guard". Beyond sick. Dave Rastavich got involved recently, and appears in the up-coming film "The Cove". The film captures the latest Shepherd effort to uncover the dolphin devastation in Japan.... Long Beach Polar Bear swim. They actually applied for the Guinness Book of World Records- largest group Polar Swim. Fish Print

Got skunked big time this week in MTK. Got there too late and the wind was already on it--HARD. Changed ideas and headed to the lighthouse to try and do some fishing, but realized quickly that I was beyond under-geared. Took this first shot of the point (wader boots with spikes only!). Came back for seconds (firsts?) on the north shore where things are a little more my speed. My bud got a nice Blue, and I decided to give it my first shot at gyotaku, the Japanese way of printing and honoring their catch. Did this one with a mixture of food coloring, cause I dont need to be eating any weird inks! Anyone know of any good food-based inks? Or any other Gyotaku secrets?

Upon returning from work one afternoon, my father became alarmed at the smell of smoke in his house. After searching throughout, Con-Ed was called to investigate what was thought to be some type of oil leak or problem. Nothing was found and they went on their way. For three days the smell would not retreat, and left my parents concerned and confused. After an evening fishing excursion on the Sound, my dad walked around the side of his home to drop some gear when he noticed the still- smoking aluminum siding fried to a crisp on the exterior of the foundation. Lightning is serious business apparently. Lucky we are........

Yesterday was one of those days that I'll remember for the rest of my life! At roughly noon, I decided to go for a surf in Bondi. On the walk down the beach, I noticed that everyone was staring at the sea. When I turned to look, I couldn't believe my eyes. A whale was in my front yard and I was about to go for a surf with it. I was still on cloud nine from having surfed with a school of dolphins here a week before, but this was a once in a lifetime kind of experience. I quickly paddled out, kept my distance and sat on my board in total amazement. Luckily, one of my friends was on the beach with a camera and was able to catch me riding the end of a wave with the whale and me both in the frame. Anything is possible.....

This photo and email reminds me of a story I heard from a teacher in High School. Eric Eastman was one of the first surfers in New York ever. He had photos of himself in ancient issues of Surfer Magazine and told amazing stories of pioneering the Montauk surf scene. One time he told me about surfing with a few friends (not sure where) when all of a sudden the water under them began to move, and he was lifted in the air to discover he was literally "riding" a whale. I always thought this story was bullshit, until the other day when I received Adrian's email. As he beautifully states, "Anything is possible..."

Celebrating in true Sandbar fashion, boyz day brings Noim Sprite, Soybomb Soysal, Bliggie, and yours truly to rock shore's North and South complete with super fun waves and an evening fitchin' sesh. Soybomb wins best day of the year award, with his first official wave slide (red fin army unite!) and the successful landing of a 25 inch stripe bass. As you may have noticed, LOASB has a shnazzy new (and very beautiful) banner. Ive noticed lately that all the righteous blogs out there have some serious imaging. I dialed up the first and best friend I ever had in this life and he sorted it out straight up. Keith has mad skills, and has possessed them since we were kids. He hooked up this rad hand drawn tern which will now solidify LOASB as a commodity not to be messed with. Keith is returning to school this Sept., and has started a sort of fund raising program where you can sponsor him as an artist, and receive one of a kind drawings etc. that will make him and you feel real good! Took a walk on the Bowery last night. Went by my friend Jesse's new club Bowery Electric (E3rd and Bowery). The city is changing so fast. Cant keep up, can't keep up...with the world! Hung out with NYC artist/legend Arturo Vega. Went up to his famous loft on 3rd and peeped the Ramones fish he designed for Hurley. Bugged out hard on the Dee-Dee Ramone originals as well. Arturo is inspiration in it's truest form. 60 years old, peaceful and happy. As an avid mountaineer, he summit ed a mind-blowing 23,000 ft peak last year. Next he's off to the Himalayas. Do as the universe desires for you, and the money will come...

You ever think you REALLY know someone? Then you find out they have a double identity as an amazing collage artist? Yeah it happened to me too. Gina works as a publisher by day, dancer/choreographer by night, and somewhere in-between, she spends countless hours on her intricate collage pieces. Her dedication to an ego-less craft has blown me away.

Watched my first ever superblow yesterday. A girl at the party told me that football was rigged, and I almost believe it after seeing that game. She also told me that Michael Jackson was going to play as a surprise after Tom Petty. Based on what a buzz-kill his set was, I almost believed that too.

Warmed up at a "little" pre-game party at the Polar Bear swim in Long Beach. 3000 maniacs getting wrecked on the beach and charging into the 38 degree water. Can you spot me in this pic? sweeeeet
